Happy Easter to You!

Buckaroo Bunny wishes you and your family a lovely Easter!

Thursday I painted this Springtime in Central Park scene for If I Were A Toy
store in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
This month's door depicts a baby fox and piglet discussing boats
before setting them for sail, while animals picnic and play.

The weather was nice and lots of kids were out & about after school.

I'm accustomed to people stopping by to watch or ask questions,
but this time I had some help from a few little local artists.

First, a girl named Lucy came by and played her Viola while
I painted and then two adorable little girls asked if they could help paint.
Victoria and Kali did a terrific job taking direction and had just the
right touch on clouds, flowers, lily pads and some greenery.

I painted this little fox last year and recently took another look at him.
I decided he's pretty cute, so he inspired April's door this year.

Hope you find lots of hidden eggs and little presents from the Easter Bun.

My 2nd Year of Painting One Door

* St. Patrick's Day Dance Party * Ireland 2012 *
Bartley plays the bagpipes while Siobhan, shyest sheep in the herd,
looks on with admiration.
Brendan badger does some "Step Dancing" with Fiona Fox.
Liam, Ciaran, Conan & Clooney dance "Shoe the Donkey" "Stack of Barley"
and other favorites with Brianna, Bridget, Claire & Neala.

A Venice Valentine

I painted wall murals for If I Were A Toy store two years ago this month.
Since then, I've returned each month, well almost, to paint a new scene on their glass front door to celebrate the changing seasons and holidays. It's a treat to do and I love that the store is here in my neighborhood of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

Never Trust a Bunny that Can't Dance!

Some bunny had to get things started and
Disco Bun couldn't resist dancing to Shake Your Groove Thing.
Tiny dog, Toby requested it, quite possibly his favorite song from the '70s!

Animals at work & play Sketches

Space Mouse or Rocket Mouse, as I sometimes call him, has been
an idea for a kids' book for some time.

My current children's book class at SVA has me considering several ideas
that have been waiting in the wings, so to speak.

Animals who dance, DJ, race cars, ride a scooter, practice yoga, bake and
try to fly are story lines I keep coming back to for some of my characters.

Going into Outer Space or having the ability to fly are fantasies of mine.
Most of my stories revolve around something going awry
and the lessons gleaned from that.

I've worked on "Floaty, the Hovering Dog" and "Fashion Bear"
in two previous classes. Have I taken these to publishers? no. Will I ever? maybe.

I really like these two dogs, Ruben & Cooper.

Confronted with a series of situations and decisions to make,
follow Ruben & Cooper from page to page to see where each possibility leads.

This bear is deep in thought, he may be experiencing writer's block.

Thanks for taking a look at my sketches. You can see finished work on my site :)

Have a swell week! xo, A
