Court Street Fair

This was not the best day for a fair, but Court Street's annual May Fair vendors gave it a shot despite the rain! Here are some shots of the soggy day...

Things I love!

Here is my apartment in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. This is my favorite tree outside my living room. It blossoms each Spring with the most beautiful pink flowers. I don't mind the railroad layout because I like being able to see through to each room. My building is a very old one and looks much better on the inside than the out. I'm sharing these pictures because I look at my apartment as a place to be creative. I have lots of little collectibles and toys (not everyone would consider worthy of keeping ;) that influence my artwork and bring me quite a bit of joy! I took these photos when I had a chance to swap apartments with a couple from Barcelona and wanted to show it in a nice light. I'll share photos from that trip later on. I have many I need to go through 1st. I love that city and hope to visit it many times in the future.

Studio pics

Thought I would share some photos of my studio. As you can see I find it hard to keep neat & tidy, but it is a workspace afterall! I like to continually look at what inspires me, so I tend to tape or tack images and sketches to my wall. The bottom picture shows my upstairs studio which I now share and use prodominantly for business, printing & storing of T-Shirts and Art Prints. The top photos show the workspace off my living room where I do most of my painting. I love Lascaux paints, they are quite smooth & creamy! I'm also a fan of Tri-Art, especially the fluid version for mural painting. I also use Golden and Liquitex paints. My blip blop (shiny, dimensional) paintings were made using liquid pigments and Acrylic 65 from Guerra Paint Supply in the East Village, NY. Art Guerra was a NYC based muralist who developed very saturated lines of pigments that can be mixed with various types of binders for some wonderful effects and range of thicknesses. He opened this store on 13th Street and Avenue A in 1984. As far as surface, I work on almost anything, wood, canvas & watercolor paper all appeal to me.

I'm happy to announce that I will be showing artwork, the fun-flat & blip blop dimensional paintings, this summer at Fat Cat Wines. I will give the specific dates and send invites in June. This is a wonderful (fairly) new shop that sells a wide variety of wines, each one with brief descriptions and suggestions of what to pair with food-wise! The owners, Daniel & Miki could not be any friendlier and knowledgeable! Best of all, they showcase professional artists, painters, photographers, illustrators each month. I will be doing a full profile and interview with them in the months to come. For now, if you find yourself in Brooklyn, make a stop here at 538 Court Street between Huntington & W 9th Street. You won't be disappointed!
